What's a "Be Out Day?"
Founded at Florida A&M University’s Tallahassee campus, Be Out Day is an event that was started by the Student Government Association in the early 1990s. It was an open invitation for students on campus to literally “be outside” and enjoy the beautiful campus grounds while socializing with fellow students and enjoying the camaraderie that comes with a tight-knit student body.
Fast-forward a few decades, and several alumni groups, including the FAMU National Alumni Association Miami-Dade Chapter, have revived the essence of Be Out Day with their local Rattler communities. Be Out Day Miami is an extension of Rattler Nation with the core mission of the event being to raise funds for local students to attend Florida A&M University.
FAMUans and FAMUly in the greater Miami metro (and beyond) come to Be Out Day Miami to enjoy the beautiful weather and catch up with friends and classmates. Key highlights:
- BODM weekend has raised over $25,000 towards scholarships for the Miami-Dade Chapter of FAMU NAA over the past three years
- More than 1,000 Rattlers and supporters attended BODM 2024 weekend events
- Bowling for Scholars sold out all 62 lanes for 3 consecutive years and counting…
